Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: CHS

The larger initial S from Diamond Monogram Set 4 is flanked by smaller initials C and H from Arabesque Monogram Set 7. The upper decorative element is the side bracket from Arabesque Monogram Set 8.

Creating a monogram with an architectural flavor, the vertical and narrower letter S is flanked by wider initials C and H. The matching curls on these two letters add an interesting complimentary design element. The constructed monogram seemed to need something more to complete it, so we made a "roof" by using our embroidery software program to isolate one side bracket from Arabesque Monogram Set 8, then rotated it and made a copy, flipped over, so that the curls in the bracket go in opposite directions. The manual seed stitch fills within the bracket shapes add an interesting textural counterpoint to the overall satin stitch monogram.

We made the S larger than it's original size, and the flanking letters C and H smaller than their original size, in order to emphasize the last name initial in the center. If you haven't done any resizing, we have a resizing article in our FAQ section.

The overall size of this monogram is 4 1/2" (114mm) tall by 5" (127mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
