Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.
Monogram Styles Used:
The letters that are part of the two-color designs in Romanesque 6 XL include a vine border and a capital letter. The letters are quite nice on their own without the vine details, so for this single-initial monogram we started with the letter M and deleted the vines (color 1) in our embroidery software program.
We wanted a simple classic design to surround and complete the initial. After some trial and error, we settled on Year: 1930 from Monogram Flourishes 1. It has a nice satin stitch border, some open lattice elements, and two semi-circular cutout areas that are bordering small areas of manual seed stitch fill.
To emphasize the verticality of the letter M we rotated the border design 90 degrees, then tweaked the sizes - border a bit bigger, letter a bit smaller - until they fit comfortably together.
The overall size is 5 7/8" (150mm) tall by 5 1/8" (130mm) wide.
How we made these monograms
Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
