Monogram CombinationsUnique Monograms combining multiple styles. Monogram Styles Used:Monogram: DMK Vertical, blocky letters offer opportunities for mixing styles that share those characteristics. It is often also possible to blend contrasting design styles together using thread colors as the connecting element. For this monogram we chose two letters, D and M, from our Moderne Monogram Set 6 as the flanking letters. Since these are two-color designs - the letter, and a thinner stylized "shadow", we looked for another boxy two-color style to use us the center/last initial. The Folk Art Monogram Set is an interesting contrast, since it's second color is a border done in a special notched stitch, reminiscent of carving in the American tradition of Tramp Art. In order to blend these similar but different styles, we chose a darker grey thread color for the letters, and a lighter cream thread color for the accents for all three letters. The overall size is 3 1/4"" (83mm) tall by 5 3/8" (138 mm) wide. How we made these monogramsEmbroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors. |
