Monogram Combinations

Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.

Monogram Styles Used:

Monogram: M

For a single initial monogram for a towel, we started with the letter M from the Moderne 11 XL Monogram Set, then went looking for embellishments.

A frame seemed like a good idea, so we added the one called Frame E from Monogram Frames Set 2. The simplicity of it went well with the straight line quality of the letter. The sizes didn't quite match, so we reduced the size of the letter until it fit comfortably within the frame.

A nice combination, but the monogram needed something else - so we went looking for another element to put outside the frame on each size. We found a compatible match in the design called Year 1941 in Monogram Flourishes Set 3. This curving bracket points left, but we made a mirrored copy to point right to complete the monogram. We adjusted the thread color so that the frame and the bracket were sewn with off-white thread, and the letter and the dots in the bracket were sewn in a pale wheat color.

The overall size is 6 1/2" (166mm) tall by 8 " (203mm) wide.

How we made these monograms

Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
