Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.
Monogram Styles Used:
For a larger pillow monogram using the initial L with a traditional look, we began with the letter L from our Arabesque 11 XL Monogram Set, which has a controlled fluid look, anchored by two lozenge shapes on a vertical axis.
We needed a border, and first thought of using a "neutral" letter - like an O or an I for accent embellishments. The second thought was to create a border out of smaller copies of the letter L, but from a different style.
Using our website feature "View Each Letter of the Alphabet in All Available Monogram Fonts" we chose the letter L and reviewed the options - some way too modern, some way to whimsical or too visually complicated. The smaller flanking letters from the Baroque Monogram Set 1 looked promising - appropriately matched but still a bit neutral.
We copied this letter multiple times in our software program - first to make a vertical row of Ls, then a horizontal one. To add a little visual interest, and to distract a bit from the "letterness", the rows were duplicated, then rotated as each side of the rectangular border was constructed
The overall size is 7 1/2" (190 mm) tall by 7 1/4" (184 mm) wide.
How we made these monograms
Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
