Monogram CombinationsUnique Monograms combining multiple styles.  Monogram Styles Used:Monogram: N It's always a good idea to turn things upside down - at least to see what they look like. For this single-initial monogram, initial N, we started with one of the letters from the Romanesque Monogram Set 11, deleted the letter, and rotated the crest border 180 degrees. We needed something with a border, and this element was just as interesting turned upside down, and better for this project. The next step was to find a letter that fit inside. It needed to be straight up and down (not slanted) to compliment the symmetry of the crest. The Victorian Monogram Set 6 seemed a good match - simple, thin satin stitch columns, and two little protruding cross pieces that seemed to anchor the letter in the space. The only trouble was that the letter was too big - so we reduced the size and narrowed the overall letter width with our embroidery software program. The overall size is 3 3/8"(86mm) tall by 2 1/2"(64mm) wide. How we made these monogramsEmbroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors. |
