Unique Monograms combining multiple styles.
Monogram Styles Used:
Monogram: S with Border
Of all the letters in the alphabet, the letter I can often be the most visually simple letter, which makes it a good letter to look to when trying to create something more abstract - in this case a border or frame for an individual letter.
We started with the letter I from our Arts and Crafts Monogram Set 6. Using our embroidery software program we copied it 3 times, and rotated and arranged each copy so that the four letters created a square. Once the four copies were positioned we saved these four designs as one new design, then experimented with overall orientation. The square frame seemed a bit more interesting on point - rotated 45 degrees.
Remaining with an Arts and Crafts theme we placed the letter S from our Arts and Crafts Monofram Set 1 - a wide satin stitch letter with a thin satin stitch border in a second color - in the center of the open space.
The overall size is 6 3/8" (160 mm) tall by 6 3/8" (160 mm) wide.
How we made these monograms
Embroidery software programs make it easy to delete elements, copy and paste elements from other designs, resize different aspects, and merge elements together into one new design. Each program is a bit different in how the Edit functions are managed. Once you have learned to use yours, creating new monograms from other monogram parts is creative and fun. Experiment with different arrangements and colors.
