Frequently Asked Questions« Finding Designs | FAQ | Installing Files » Formats Supported 1.We are a small company, and made the decision some time ago that we could not afford to retool our product line each time a machine manufacturer creates a new embroidery format. 2. We support 7 different formats. This means that our products are compatible with all home and commercial embroidery machines. Some machine types may require the user to convert the designs within their embroidery software program as they are used. Some users, particularly home embroiderers, may require additional software to transfer designs from their computer to a blank memory card. 3. Our designs are available in 7 formats: .csd Singer / P.O.E.M 4. If the format that you use is not listed here, or if you are unsure about which format you need, please review the list below for the best format option:
3. Commercial Formats Commercial embroiderers have often bought designs in .cnd (Melco Condensed) format. This copyrighted format was the first developed to allow designs to be resized from vector files, which define only the outlines of shapes. Since there are now at least 6 inexpensive stand-alone resizing programs produced by different companies that allow successful resizing from stitch (expanded) files, along with upgrades to commercial embroidery software for the same purpose, we do not consider .cnd designs to be essential for commercial embroiderers.
Feedback or Questions about "Formats Supported" (6) I have purchased Collections 8 monogram set. Can this set be used with Monogram Wizard Plus for embroidery work? Thank you. EmbroideryArts Support answers: Monogram Wizard Plus is a useful but limited embroidery software application. It only works with it's own built-in lettering styles, and cannot import other designs. Our designs are just like any stock design in every way except subject matter - rather than dogs or cars they are letters of the alphabet. They can be combined, resized, edited, etc. in any standard embroidery software or resizing program. --Posted by: Paul Franks at October 31, 2006 04:33 PM Hi, I just purchased a Kenmore Ergo3 . I also have the 19000 reader/writer. I am having a heck of a time trying to figure this all out. I am using a lap top with a different type of serial port so I was able to convert the reader/writer serial cable into a USB cable and I am trying to copy .sew files and then put the memory card or the scanner card into my sewing machine and each time it says there are NO files on either. I checked the memory flash card and it has plenty of patterns on it. I double checked the hardware/software and everything looks good. Keeps telling me to check the serial connection . EmbroideryArts Support answers: We can understand your frustration - technical issues in our industry are often unnecessarily complicated and poorly explained by machine manufacturers. Ultimately the vendor who supplied the machine and software is the best source for technical help. So long as you are using the correct format for your machine the designs are not causing your problem. Memory Cards do have a finite memory - the calculation is based on the file size of the designs, which in turn is based on the number of stitches in the design. However, some machines are capable of recognizing only a few designs on a card at a time, no matter how many designs might fit on the card. You might try emptying the card and transferring only 5 or 6 designs. --Posted by: Jann at October 27, 2006 03:01 AM Hi, Thank you EmbroideryArts Support answers: In our Tutorials section there is a free Tutorial for Bernina Artista software. The Artista software is different than the Artista machine. If you have this software program then our Turorial will be helpful for using our designs. If you don't have the Artista software, and exclusively use the Magic Box to transfer designs from your computer to a blank memory card then you should consult the Help files or consult the dealer who sold you the Magic Box. Many of our customers who use the Magic Box also have an additional software program - like Bernina Artista, Embird, etc. - to resize designs and to merge individual letters together for Monograms. --Posted by: Jeanne Rivoira at October 5, 2006 01:41 PM I have a bernina 200e and I have opted to download collections to a usb stick and then plug the usb stick into my 200E. I was told this will work but are you saying that .art format is the same as .exp? EmbroideryArts Support answers: .exp format is not the same as .art format. There are more than 20 formats in use in our industry - there is little if any technical difference between them but machine manufacturers have chosen to create multiple formats rather than creating software and machines that all read the same format. Bernina uses three formats for various machine types - .pes, .art, and .exp. We support two of those three - .pes and .exp. The Bernina 200 E will read .exp format designs so .art isn't necessary for your machine type. --Posted by: karen searson at June 29, 2006 04:37 PM I purchased a collection on CD. In order to run the designs on a Bernina 200E, do I first use the wizard to install the designs on my computer, then burn a CD to be used in the CDrom player connected to the embroidery machine? EmbroideryArts Support answers: All of our products are multi-format, and include an installation wizard. The CD drive that you connect to your Bernina 200E machine will only read embroidery design files, not an Installation file. If you want to put all of the designs from one of our Collections on one CD that you machine will read, run the installation and either choose to install the designs to a CD from the installation wizard, or install the designs to your Computer first and then copy the files to a CD after installation. Your machine will read .exp format. In our installation wizard that format is described with its correct title - Melco Expanded (.exp) format. You can preview the Installation Wizard step-by-step. If you have embroidery software (Bernina Artista, Embird, etc) in addition to you Bernina 200E machine you might want to install the designs on your computer, then use your software to create multiple-letter monograms, resize designs, etc. You would then only copy designs to a CD as you need them. In that case you would be better off using a rewritable (CD-RW) CD, so that you can keep reusing the same CD. --Posted by: Jeanne at May 27, 2006 02:52 PM Howdy, I do need to convert cnd file, what source can be used, thans alot EmbroideryArts Support answers: Assuming that you mean .cnd (Melco Condensed) format, and not .csd (Singer P.O.E.M) what you want to do is a bit specialized. There are many software/resizing programs and cataloguing programs that will convert .csd format to other embroidery formats. To convert .cnd format, try contacting Dakota Collectibles about their Dakota Sizer and AlphaSizer programs. --Posted by: NAN at April 25, 2006 07:17 PM |
