Director: Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck Synopsis: Frank (Johnny Depp) is an American tourist traveling by train from Paris to Venice. Elise (Angelina Jolie) sits down across from him. Immediately smitten, he asks her to dinner, then accompanies her to her Venice hotel. He isn't aware that this process has been elaborately contrived, and he is now being followed by the authorities and the Russian mafia, and is in danger. Scene: Elise is sitting in a Paris cafe when a messenger delivers a letter from a former lover - Alexander Pearce. She is under high-tech surveillance by the French police, working with Scotland Yard. The letter instructs her to board a specific train at the Gare de Lyon, pick out a man of similar height and build as Pearce, and make those following her believe that the stranger is him.
