The Thin Man - 1934Movie: The Thin Man - 1934 Director: W. S. Van Dyke Synopsis: From the very popular film series, based on the Dashiell Hammett novel, Nick and Nora Charles (William Powell, Myrna Loy) are the retired private detective duo, assisted by their wire-haired fox terrier Asta (played by Skippy). In this story the couple, based in San Francisco, decide to spend the Christmas holidays in New York. There they are approached by Dorothy Wynant (Maureen O'Sullivan), the daughter of one of Nick's old clients, to help solve the mystery of her father's disappearance. Scene: Nick and Nora are headed for bed in their hotel suite when there is a knock at the door - and they are held at gunpoint by the visitor. Monogram: Nick is wearing pajamas, with a diamond shaped monogram on the left pocket. It's difficult to make out but seems likely to be NC. Contributed by: Joanne Roth | |||||||||||
