Director: Robert Stevenson Synopsis: Down-on-his-luck racing driver Jim Douglas (Dean Jones) has been reduced to driving in demolition derbies. After crashing his last car, he wanders into a high-end auto showroom after spotting the attractive sales assistant Carole Bennett (Michele Lee). The British owner of the dealership, Peter Thorndyke (David Tomlinson) is being particularly abusive to a white Volkswagen Beetle. Jim sticks up for the car. The next morning he finds it mysteriously parked outside his home. It develops that the car has a mind of it's own. Scene: Herbie (the Beetle) is determined to bring Jim and Carole together. Jim is determined to make a serious racing comeback with the super-fast Herbie as his race car. Thorndyke is determined to beat Jim. Monogram: Thorndyke at the track - in red helmet and team jumpsuit sporting the team logo - the embroidered letter T with surrounding crest design.
