State Fair - 1945Movie: State Fair - 1945 Director: Walter Lang Synopsis: The Frake family head to the Iowa State Fair in this 1945 remake of a 1933 film - this one with songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Each family member has their own agenda for the fair. Mother Melissa (Fay Bainter) hopes her mince pie is the best, Father Abel (Charles Winninger) is bringing his prize pig Blueboy, son Wayne (Dick Haymes) wants to teach a new game to one of the sideshow barkers, and daughter Margie (Jeanne Crain) just wants to cheer up. Scene: Wayne buys a ticket to the fair's nightclub - and is smitten by lead singer Emily Edwards (Vivian Blaine). Monogram: Emily on stage with the Tommy Thomas Orchestra.
