He comes to suspect that these events are connected withy his wife's unreasoning jealousy. Gene Tierney was nominated for an Oscar for this role as Best Actress, her only career nomination. The Oscar went to Joan Crawford, who won for "Mildred Pierce". Scene: Top: Ellen announces her engagement to Richard. Middle: Ellen is pregnant, and told to avoid exercise. Bottom: Ellen writes a letter to her former fiance Russell Quinton (Vincent Price), now a District Attourney, trying to convince him of a plot against her.
