Shall We Dance - 1937

Movie: Shall We Dance - 1937

Director: Mark Sandrich

Synopsis: Ballet star Pete "Petrov" Peters (Fred Astaire) arranges to cross the atlantic on the same ship as the dancer he's fallen for but barely knows, musical star Linda Keene (Ginger Rogers). By the time the ship reaches New York a little white lie has blossomed into a full-blown gossip item - that they are secretly married. This is the first Hollywood moview for the Gershwin brothers - George Gershwin wrote the score and Ira Gershwin the lyrics.

Scene: A copy of the latest New York Dispatch has just arrived under Peter's stateroom door - showing proof of his marriage to Linda Keene - in the form of a posed photo of a manequin watching over him as he sleeps. "Petrov" storms off to get to the bottom of this.

Monogram: The scrip initial P, on an oval background, is appliqued to Peter's robe.
