Rudy - 1993Movie: Rudy - 1993 Director: David Anspaugh Synopsis: Daniel E. 'Rudy' Ruettiger (Sean Astin) grew up in a midwest steel town, but always dreamed of playing football at Notre Dame. His father Daniel (Ned Beatty) and brother Frank (Scott Benjaminson) try to discourage his dream, and his high-school grades are average at best. But he insisted on persevering, enrolls in a prep-school near the Notre Dame campus, volunteers to assist the stadium grounds-keeper (and sleeps on a cot in the grounds-keeper's office. His spirit pays dividends - his grades improve enough to transfer, gets a walk-on spot on the football team's practice squad, earns the respect of his teammates, and plays in the last game of his senior season - for the last two plays - with his family in the stands. He is carried off the field on the team's shoulders. Scene: Trying to get dates for his friend D-Bob (Jon Favreau) and himself a spot of the pep squad that spray-paints the players helmets before home games, Rudy charms a Notre Dame student who is managing the club.
