Mona Lisa Smile - 2003
Movie: Mona Lisa Smile - 2003
Director: Mike Newell
Synopsis: In 1953, newly-minted Ph.D. art history teacher Katherine Watson (Julia Roberts) from California accepts a teaching position at upper-crust east coast Wellesley College, where only women are students. She finds that her students are all book smart, but are not encouraged to think for themselves. They all seem to be biding their time, waiting to find the right man to marry. She decides to try to change that - for the sake of the students and her own sanity.
Scene: In the first lecture, some of the students - Betty Warren (Kirsten Dunst) and her friends Joan Brandwyn (Julia Stiles) and Giselle Levy (Maggie Gyllenhaal) try to get under their new teacher's skin.
Monogram: An unidentified student - with a really large monogram on her sweater. It's so large that what would likely be the middle initial is wrapped under her armpit and only partly visible. The other initials are J (first name) and R (last name).
