Director: Ben Wheatley Synopsis: A young woman (Lily James) met wealthy Englishman Maxim de Winter (Armie Hammer) in Monte Carlo. She, a companion a rich American woman on holiday. He, a recent widower. After a fortnight of courtship she agrees to marry him and return to his family's estate in Cornwall. Based on the 1938 novel by Daphne du Maurier. Scene: The first Mrs de Winter, who died in a boating accident, was charming and beloved. Mrs Danvers the housekeeper (Kristin Scott Thomas) seems to constantly emphasize the new Mrs. de Winter's inferiority by comparison. Monogram: The embroidered "R" appears throughout the house on linens, handkerchiefs, hairbrush, guestbook, etc. Here it's embroidered on a handkerchief.
