Duck Soup - 1933
Director: Leo McCarey Synopsis: The small country of Freedonia is in a financial mess, and borrows a large sum of money from wealthy widow Mrs. Gloria Teasdale (Margaret Dumont). She agrees to donate $ 20 million if the country agrees to appoint Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) as its new President. Firefly attempts to win the hand of Mrs. Teasdale, as does Ambassador Trentino (Louis Calhern) of nearby Sylvania Scene: Top: Firefly wakes up late for his own inauguration. Bottom: War with neighboring Sylvania seems inevitable given Firefly's constant harrassment of Ambassador Trentino.
