Embellishment Newsletter, visit their website at: Step 1. Print illustrations and instructions. These are .pdf files, and require
Adobe Acrobat Reader software in order to view and print. (The references
in these instructions to Figure 1, etc are to illustrations that are part
of the .pdf version) Step 2. Review instructions and materials required (materials list at the end of these instructions). Step 3. Draw the pattern. (see Figure 1) Choose a sturdy hanger and position the hanger on the paper and trace around the hanger. Add a 2" wide seam allowance around all the edges. Your pattern should be 19"-20" wide and 8 1/2" high. Fold the pattern in half vertically and true up all edges. Step 4. Cut fabric Using the pattern that you have created, cut two identical pieces of fleece and fabric, one for the front and one for the back. Step 5.Embroidery Embroider a letter or letters of your choice on the front panel. The monogram should be centered left to right, and the center of the monogram should be approx. 4" from the top of the panel. Step 6. Sewing Position the fleece behind each front and back section and pin to secure. Stitch around each section. Step 7. Quilting (optional). Using an air-soluble marking pen, divide the front section into 1" squares. Leave the immediate area around the monogram unmarked. Step 8. . Edging. (see Figure 2, Figure 3) Bind the bottom and top edges of each section. Prepare piping by securing bias cut fabric strips around the cording. Pin the prepared cording to the curved edges of the front section, right sides together. Remove filler cord at the ends of each section. Step 9. Assembly. (see figure 4). Turn the bias fabric back to finish each end and secure with pins. Sew the piping into place. Pin the back and front sections right sides together and sew directly over the stitching line that secures the piping into place. Turn the hanger cover right sides out and slip over your hanger. Congratulations! Your project is complete. Materials |
