Synopsis: Christine Penmark (Nancy Kelly) is from a celebrated military family, and would seem to have a storybook life - beautiful house, loving husband, and a perfect daughter. But when her husband Col. Kenneth Penmark (William Hopper) is transferred to Washington DC, Christine is left to take care of their eight year old daughter Rhoda (Patty McCormack) on her own. Christine has experienced the same recurring dream all her life, but when one of Rhoda's classmates drowns in a lake at a class picnic she begins to suspect that Rhoda may be involved.
Scene: Invited to dinner with neighbors in their apartment building, the conversation turns to psychology.
